Restoring E371 to operational condition will be a significant achievement for a number of reasons.

A partially new boiler will have to be made suitable for use on the locomotive. It will need to be certified to modern standards and be able to be fitted to the frame.

Other parts of the locomotive will need to be refurbished and reconditioned to a point where they will be suitable for branchline use.

One advantage that this locomotive has is that a number of key components have been removed from the locomotive over the years and stored undercover and safe from the elements and from vandalism.

We have experience in taking parts from stored locomotives and refurbishing them for re-use, and this will be needed with E371.

We're fortunate to have significant expertise on staff and in our volunteer ranks as well as connections in the heritage railway sector and knowledge of suppliers who have a proven track record of providing services to the heritage railway sector. Our main need is funding and we're asking you for your support.
